This book was the best rollercoaster ever. I want to go back through my other reviewed/rated books by Ms. Milan and downgrade them by 1/2 star because even those books couldn't meet the standards for excellent storytelling that this book easily exceeds. Victorian morals are an illusion that gets its rightful upending in this book. Not a ballroom in sight. The woman saves herself time and again (once in a duel!), and the sexual tension is off the charts without a sex scene for 75% of the book.
The heroine is a former courtesan, the hero is a virgin (definitely not a blushing one either), and Milan brings her A game. This is going on the list of my best of 2015 reads. 5 (hundred) stars.
