Popular romance authors are usually a hit or miss situation for me; Courtney Milan and Jeannie Lin were hits, Loretta Chase and Tessa Dare are definite misses. I got this book for 99 cents and figured less than a dollar to find out if I like an author's work seemed reasonable. The two stories are really, really, really short; the entire NOOK book was 56 pages, with a few pages for front of the book stuff and 12 pages in the back for excerpts of Chase's new release Dukes Prefer Blondes.
Lord Lovedon's Duel
So MCs get stinking drunk at heroine's sister's wedding. Heroine challenges hero in front of his friends and her friends to a duel. Next day, she tries to get out of duel, but hero is already falling for her. In less than 24 hours. Right. Hero provides the weapons, which turns out to be French toy guns. Cut to four weeks later and Hero is proposing to heroine in the same room where she challenged him to a duel. She says yes. The End. Wait, what? Uh.....
The Jilting of Lord Rothwick
MCs are already engaged and the banns were read, the announcement is in the paper. Heroine decides she wants hero to get on bended knees and do something public and dramatic to prove his love. Heroine wants her relationship to be similar to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. She is a manipulative bitch. Hero falls for her tricks. Cut to them getting married the day after Vic and Al get married. The End. Um....no. 0 stars.
