Pivotal Decades: The United States, 1900-1920 - John J. Cooper, John J. Cooper

Another textbook, but easily accessible for history buffs and causal history fans. Although Teddy Roosevelt takes up much of the two decades, there were other political, social, and economical happenings that Cooper focuses on as well. But as usual, if it wasn't Teddy hogging the spotlight it was the Great War. What I liked about this book was that it focused on the little-noticed red scares of the post war (much like its post WWII scare) and labor unrest. Since the book is short considering how much rich history occurred during these two decades, there is a fair bit of glossing over more interesting happenings, such as the Scopes Monkey Trial and muckrakers. A good starting point for learning about the time period, but may leave you wanting more.
