Review:

Well, it was a quick reunion/second chance romantic read at about 75 pages. I couldn't buy into Jessica being a firefighter; I know a few female firefighters from my days in the military, and the way the author described Jessica physically, mentally, and emotionally was the opposite of the real world women firefighters I knew. Also, Jessica had a temper that was constantly running hot, even during fighting fires; as someone who is trained on self-contained breathing apparatus and going into sketchy buildings to do a job, the last thing I need my partner/team is a hothead not following orders. But Jessica did just that and ended up saving the life of a baby, so she thought she was justified in disobeying orders (again) and putting herself and the baby in peril. She also talked to her Chief/superior officer as if she was berating a teenager. Not professional at all. A person makes Chief/team lead because of experience, training, and a level of professionalism - not trying to find an opportunity at every turn to hog the spotlight and be a hero.

As for the male MC, personality was lacking. If you took a life-sized cut out of Brad Pitt from the movie Troy and stood him next to the female MC, you would have a hero with more character development than Cort.

0.5 star for simply having a female firefighter as a lead character.
