Ramona the Pest (Ramona Quimby) - Tracy Dockray, Louis Darling, Beverly Cleary

Without Beezus standing in for the reader to call out some of Ramona's outlandish behavior, the reader is left with characters that coddled Ramona and allows her to throw temper tantrum after temper tantrum until she gets her way. It isn't cute or funny, just painful. Ramona is egotistical, bordering on narcissistic and desires nothing more than the world to fall at her feet. 2 stars.

Edited to Add: Book was published in 1968 and has not been updated. Ye have been warned (especially the part where Mrs. Quimby leaves 5 year old Ramona alone in the house and gives her instructions on what time to leave for school).
